Help for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance!
The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge is delighted to announce the award of a £1,500 grant to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA). This grant will contribute towards the cost of essential protective equipment for a new pilot. YAA serves over 5.4 million people across Yorkshire, providing critical emergency medical services.
In 2024 alone, YAA flew more than 1,100 missions, including 18 in local communities like Hebden Bridge and Halifax. The organisation's helicopters are equipped to bring advanced emergency care directly to patients, often making the difference between life and death. YAA's rapid response and ability to transport patients to specialized medical facilities in record time have been instrumental in saving thousands of lives since its establishment in 2000.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance operates two Airbus H145 helicopters, which are state-of-the-art emergency aircrafts fitted with the latest medical equipment. These helicopters can reach speeds of up to 160 mph and are capable of landing in challenging terrains, ensuring timely medical intervention even in the most remote areas of Yorkshire.
In addition to their life-saving missions, YAA is actively involved in community outreach and education. They conduct first-aid training sessions, safety awareness programs, and engage with local schools and organisations to promote the importance of emergency medical services. Their dedication to community involvement ensures that Yorkshire's residents are better prepared to handle emergencies.
By supporting YAA, we are not only aiding their critical operations but also contributing to a safer, healthier community. The grant from the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge will help equip the new pilot with the necessary protective gear, ensuring their safety as they perform these vital missions.
